Parental involvement

Rollebol attaches great importance to interaction with parents

If your child is placed at a location of Rollebol childcare centers, parents transfer an important part of the care to the childcare center. That is quite a responsibility of which we are very aware. That is why good contact with parents is very important to Rollebol. This means that both parents and childcare must be able to exchange information back and forth. This exchange tries to stimulate childcare in various ways:

Before placing the child, parents have an intake interview with the location manager of the location where their child will be placed. After the first two months of childcare, the parents and the child's mentor have an evaluation interview.

The intake interview is approximately one or two weeks prior to the placement. Usually this is accompanied by a tour of our accommodation. If possible, both parents/guardians are invited for this. The location manager or location coordinator explains the procedure and you will receive all necessary information directly related to the care and care of your child. The location manager explains the formal agreements and the house rules. Parents who need this can get an information sheet of our policy. Pedagogical policy in particular is of interest to (future) parents.

The opinion of parents counts. Rollebol children's centers are open to ideas, but also to criticism. We are continuously working to meet the requirements and wishes of our customers. One of the main objective of Rollebol is the pursuit of customer satisfaction. At Rollebol you will find an open culture and pleasant and customer-oriented communication with all stakeholders within the organization.

Each location has its own parents' committee where parents can turn with questions and problems. Participation in the ins and outs of the Rollebol organization is largely arranged via the parents' committee.

Rollebol attaches great importance to the opinion of parents. Parents can set up a Parents' Committee for every Rollebol childcare center location. In addition, there is a Central Parents' Committee, in which parents participate in discussions at a central level about policy topics that are important to parents. Any parent can stand for election. The members are elected by the Parents' Committees.

The daily pick-up and drop-off times are an ideal opportunity for parents and pedagogical staff to exchange information. Parents can also read how their child fared that day in the parent portal.

The pedagogical staff register each child twice a year. The primary focus is on the well-being and development of the child. The findings are discussed in the group meeting and then discussed with the parents. If necessary, the contact with the child is adjusted.

Every year we organize a joint parent evening for all parents. Substantive topics are then discussed, sometimes in the presence of an expert. Depending on what is going on at a location, a parent evening or a walk-in morning can be organized.

Finally, we involve parents in parties or outings, organizing and celebrating their child's birthday party at the group and celebrating joint celebrations such as Sinterklaas, Christmas and Easter.

Rolpers is the newsletter of Rollebol childcare centers and is produced periodically. Our newsletter contains current affairs and information for parents regarding the organization of Rollebol childcare centers. New developments, interesting articles and information about Rollebol childcare centers are discussed. There is a general Rolpers for all locations and special themed editions are coming out. You will receive specific information about the care of your child in the Rolpers edition for the location. For each location there are details and information about the different groups. You will receive Rolpers via Rollebol Parent Portal.

The parent meetings are fixed moments at which parents are discussed about their child's stay at Rollebol childcare centres. A parent meeting takes place at least once a year. In this conversation, all kinds of topics are discussed, such as development, upbringing and, in particular, coordination with the parents. If necessary, interim agreements are also made. In addition, the location manager regularly talks with the pedagogical staff about the children in the group meeting. For this purpose, among other things, use is made of the diaries with child follow-up reports and observations.

The adjustment period starts at Rollebol childcare centers on the first day of placement. Every child and every parent needs time to get used to a new situation and a new environment. We try to guide both the parents and the children in this as well as possible. In addition to our Pedagogical policy at Rollebol children's centres, there is also a Wen policy that is used by the pedagogical staff when performing the services.

After a day of work you come to pick up your child at the daycare center and you would like to know how the day went. With Rollebol Parent Portal you can read how things went that day before you pick up your child. But the most important thing is of course the contact with the pedagogical employee. Rollebol Parent Portal is a secure and personal Internet service and is considered by us as a supplement to the transfer and certainly not a replacement. However, you can exchange more specific information when you collect it if you have already seen the daily report.

The digital diary in Rollebol Ouderportaal is an important means for the individual transfer of information, which we work with at all our locations. This is a notebook in which the pedagogical staff write down the details of that day. You are thus able to follow the development of your child and keep track of progress, but you can also indicate developments yourself. Events can always occur in the home situation that are worth mentioning and which the pedagogical employees can take into account. About a jab at the consultation desk, the first steps or news about toilet training, or perhaps the arrival of a brother or sister. In this way, as an extension of the home situation, we can also better guide your child at Rollebol childcare centers and possibly respond to or elaborate on certain events.

The exit interview takes place before the child has reached the age to leave Rollebol childcare centers. The stay of the child is discussed again and the expectations with regard to the future. The parents will take home the folder with the child's papers. A copy or printout can be made of the digital notebook in Rollebol Ouderportaal. The parents will be asked to give their opinion about the stay of the child at Rollebol childcare centers.

Dealing with parents

It is important for every parent that the childcare center becomes a safe, trusted place for the child. After all, it is not easy to transfer part of the education to others. Tasting the atmosphere in the building or seeing how the group leaders treat the children is often an important factor for parents when assessing the daycare center. We attach great importance to interaction with parents. That is our starting point.

We always try to take the needs of parents and children into account as optimally as possible. That is why a lot of attention is paid to communication with parents/carers. You will of course have daily contact with the pedagogical staff when picking up and dropping off. But this is usually fleeting and informal, yet sufficient to keep a finger on the pulse of the ins and outs at Rollebol childcare centers. Because good interaction between the pedagogical employees at the childcare center and you as a parent/carer is important, we use safe and personal internet services for this:

  • We use Rollebol Parent Portal for the care of 0-13 year olds

This is the way to get involved in our childcare. With this we make a day care really insightful in a fun and personal way. Of course, this is in addition to – and not in lieu of – direct contact with you as a parent. To log in, use your customer number and you will receive a password by e-mail.

In the Rollebol Parent Portal, our pedagogical employees keep a digital diary for children from 0 to 4 years old, which is always released at the end of the day and sent to you as a parent. In this, the pedagogical employee writes a short report about your child and the events of the day. You can respond to the child-tracking reports in the diary. Also make notes about current matters, which the pedagogical employee must take into account during the childcare, such as minor inconveniences (for example a cold of your child) or special wishes with regard to nutrition or information from the health clinic.
For communication with parents, we also use the parent portal for our BSO locations, so that you as a parent have all the information about childcare together.

We try to keep the communication channels open. If there is reason to do so, we are always open to a personal conversation. This is possible at the initiative of Rollebol children's centers, but you can also indicate that you need it.
