Knikkebol Children's Center in Huiswaard from September 2, 2024 located at Drechterwaard 11. Day care, toddler care and after-school care is offered at this location. In addition, there are two branch locations of BSO Knikkebol; in pcbs Dare! Tochtwaard and Roman Catholic primary school Regenboog Tochtwaard.
There are six group rooms for children between the ages of 4 and 12, spread over the main branch and the two branches. BSO Knikkebol is mainly intended for children from pcbs Durf!, rkbs Regenboog Tochtwaard and obs Jules Verne. A joint program of after-school activities is organized with these schools. In addition, the Knikkebol childcare center offers day care for children aged 0 – 4 years and toddler care for children aged 2 – 4 years.
The children are taken to and from school. In the own group, we first have something to drink and eat together. Afterwards, they can choose from numerous activities. This varies from crafts, playing outside, making music and playing board games to creating a beautiful performance. Furthermore, the children can participate in a fun sport or game activity. But reading a book on the couch or listening to music is also possible.
The main location is secluded with a large outdoor play area. We have arranged these BSO groups appropriately according to age. At BSO 1, creative activities are central, BSO 2 has plenty of play material available with a house corner, car corner, etc. At BSO 3, a superstructure group has been realized with play materials, magazines and activities that match this age category. Due to the “Open door policy” the children have the flexibility to do their own thing in any group. Each group is supervised by two pedagogical staff.
BSO 4 at Knikkebol branch is located in pcbs Durf!. A cozy and compact group for 20 children, supervised by two pedagogical employees. BSO 5 and 6 are located in primary school Regenboog Tochtwaard and provide care for 33 children under the supervision of three pedagogical employees. These groups offer shelter and education under one roof. The children are in one familiar place all day long. They see the same faces, which makes them feel more at home. There is an intensive collaboration between school and childcare. And that in turn benefits the development of the child.
The accommodation is spacious. Our pedagogical employees also turn this location into a pleasant after-school care with many events and festivities.
Activities are offered at the BSO after the table moment. To make these activities as challenging as possible, we offer theme-oriented activities in the age categories 4+, 6+ and 8+. We want to give children the opportunity to grow with a challenging day program, personal attention and variety in activities. The main themes are dealt with on a rotating basis in a four-weekly cycle.
We want to stimulate the broad development of the children with the various themes. Sports and games are a daily recurring theme, because we believe that exercise is an important aspect of a child's development. That is why this part will be part of the BSO program on a daily basis.
