The children of BSO Holderdebolder will have a festive week this autumn in connection with the 10th anniversary of this Rollebol child center location in 23 Koornlaan in Alkmaar at De Kring primary school.
The children went from Holderdebolder with the Rollebol vans and the Stint to the Jos Rood bakery in Oudorp. Here the children were put to work by Ronald Zegers and his team. They were allowed to use molds to make figures from speculaas and then provided with almond nuts. These delicious cookies were then put in the ovens, of course with a name tag, so that we can give each child his or her own cookies. Because it takes a while before the cookies are baked, Ronald had a surprise. The children were allowed to help make the whipped cream party cake. In the meantime, he told a lot about the baker's profession and the children learned all kinds of new words, including for the bottom of the cake. The cake was first skilfully cut into three layers and then the first layer was covered with jam. Then came a layer with pudding and whipped cream and then the cake was smoothed by Jos. Of course, the children were allowed to even out the layers neatly with a spatula and help decorate the cake. The best was yet to come. The whipped cream syringe was used and Ronald knew what to do with it. There were even real strawberries on the cake.
The children loved baking gingerbread cookies together and of course making a nice tasty cake with the help of the baker. With a loud applause we thanked Jos Rood and his team, who wanted to guide us in making our delicious festive cake in honor of 10 years of Holderdebolder!! In the afternoon the gingerbread cookies were brought to Holderdebolder, because they had to cool down a bit first. The cake was also cut and then it was delicious. What a fun activity for the festive week in this autumn holiday.
